Back in training
Last week we started the summer training program for the team. This is an important time in preparation for the coming season. For six weeks, over the next two months, most of the guys will be in Madison working on technique and going through their lifting program.
Medbery to Rio
Connor Medbery will be heading to Rio with USA Wrestling as the training partner for our Olympic Heavyweight, Tervel Dlagnev. Connor will be in Rio for the duration of the Olympic Games, August 4-20. He will be staying at the Team USA multi-sport training site that has been secured by the U.S. Olympic Committee. As a training partner, Connor will be working with the Olympic Coaches in helping prepare Tervel for the competition and will also be warming him up just prior to the matches. This is a great opportunity and experience and we are all excited for Connor.
July 1 begins the new NCAA recruiting year and the first 10 days will be pretty much dedicated to the Badger wrestling future. That is the first day that coaches are allowed to make in person contact with the incoming Senior class. Coaches Ruschell, Brandvold and I will be visiting recruits starting at 12:01am on July 1st through the next few days. Coach Hull will be going to SPIRE Institute in Ohio to again help USA Wrestling with the Cadet World Team Training Camp and the 2020 Camp for elite High School wrestlers. Those camps will take place July 3-9. Both Trevor and Kyle will split time at these camps as well. Later in July, Trevor and Kyle will be at the training camp and the competition for the Wisconsin Cadet and Junior teams preparing for the largest wrestling tournament in the World, the USA Wrestling Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND.
August will be a big month with our coaches and athletes in support of the Badger Wrestling Club. You will receive information separately on that from the BWC shortly.
