Thielke qualifies USA for Rio Olympic Spot at 59kg

Second place finish at Final Olympic Qualifiers secures 2016 Rio Spot

Istanbul, Turkey- Jesse Thielke (Germantown, WI/USA) reached the finals of the 2nd World Olympic Games World Qualifying Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey Friday morning (USA CST) which qualified him for the Olympic spot. Thielke fell in the finals to Hamid Sourian (World and Olympic Champion of Iran ) by technical fall. Sourian scored via takedown an several gut wrenches to secure the win.

Thielke now joins the other US Olympic Team qualifiers to wrestle in Rio. In Greco Jesse along with Andy Bisek (75kg), Ben Provisor (85kg) and Robby Smith (130kg) have qualified for the games. The US will be without Greco Qualifiers at two weights as Ravaughn Perkins (66kg) and Joe Rau (98kg) lost bouts prior to reaching the semi-final round required to qualify USA for the Olympic birth.

Jesse opened with a 8-0 techical fall over Hungarian Olympic Bronze medalist.

GOLD: Hamid Mohammad SORYAN (IRI) defeated Jesse David THIELKE (USA) by TF
