Macey Kilty (Stratford, Wis./Team Wisconsin) has been selected as Athlete of the Week on March 27, 2017.

While competing at the U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals last weekend, Kilty secured gold medals in both the Cadet and Junior divisions at 117 pounds with dominant performances across the board.

She began her run at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., by claiming top prize in the Cadet division with a 4-0 record. Kilty recorded three pins in addition to an 8-1 decision over Minnesota’s Ngao Shoua Whitethorn in the championship match.

Kilty followed that up by posting five-straight wins in the Junior bracket, securing two pins and a technical fall along the way. She downed Pennsylvania product Amanda Walker 4-0 in the Junior finals.

In total, Kilty won nine matches over the weekend, notching five pins, one technical fall and one major decision. Moreover, she doubled up at the Girls Folkstyle Nationals for the second-straight year.

Although young in age as a second-year Cadet, the Wisconsin native has posted spectacular results over the last calendar year.

Last September, Kilty won a bronze medal at the UWW Cadet World Championships held in Tbilisi, Georgia. In her international encore, Kilty picked up a gold medal from the UWW Cadet Klippan Lady Open in February.

In 2016, she finished in first place at the UWW Cadet Nationals and USAW Cadet Freestyle Nationals, on top of a third-place finish at the USAW Junior Freestyle Nationals.

As a freshman at Stratford High School in 2016, Kilty finished as runner-up at the Division III Wisconsin State Championships at 106 pounds competing against men.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete’s name, wrestling program and weekly and career accomplishments to Richard Immel at
