MADISON, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) has been selected the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Wrestler of the Year based on a vote conducted by the league coaches.
Hermsen compiled a 26-6 record with 16 pins at 165 pounds during the 2015-16 campaign. He secured the NCAA Division III national title with a 5-3 sudden victory 1 over Nicholas Michael of Wartburg College (Iowa) to become the program’s sixth national champion – and first since 2003. Hermsen won the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional title with a 3-2 decision over UW-Whitewater’s Tom Gerszewski. At the WIAC championship, he claimed All-WIAC second team honors with a second place finish to Gerszewski.
- Hermsen is the third Pointer to receive the Wrestler of the Year honor, joining Perry Miller (1997 and 1998) and Cody Koenig (2003).
