Trevor Hasenjager had reservations when he was approached about wrestling for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the early 1990s.

In fact, the former Sevastopol High School state champion didn’t know anything at that time about the small rural college tucked between the cities of Kenosha and Racine.

“After I won the Pulaski Tournament during my senior year of high school, a coach came up to me and asked me if I planned on wrestling in college,” said Hasenjager. “I said yes, and he asked me if I would be interested in Parkside. I told him I wasn’t going to wrestle for a junior college, and he said Parkside is the only Division II school in the state. That made me feel a little awkward, but that was before the internet so I couldn’t look the school up.”
