    This tournament was started because the coaches here at Slinger feel part our job as Middle School Coaches
    was to get our wrestlers ready for the next level. Why not give wrestlers the experience of what it’s like to compete like the Varsity!


    WHEN: December 3, 2017 (Sunday)

    WHAT: 6-8 TEAM Middle School (Grades 6-8) Wrestling Tournament
    WEIGH-INS: 7:00 am
    A. All wrestlers weigh in as a team:
    B. Ounce weight variance. i.e. 79lb weight class – Wrestler weighs 79.8lbs – Wrestler allowed to wrestle at 79lbs.
    C. All wrestlers must adhere to Hair, nails & hygiene procedures.

    COACHES MTG: 8:00am
    WEIGHT CLASSES: 14 Weight Classes
    AWARDS: Approx. 3:30pm; at completion of Tournament
    3 Team Trophies: Top 3 Teams
    FORMAT: Combination of Round Robin & Bracket (See Attached Sheet)
    ADMISSION: Adults $2 Children under 12 Free There will be Concessions all day.

    • Periods are 1-1-1
    • Over-Time Rule: Using High School Rules
    • A wrestler is only allowed to move up one weight class from their recorded weight. Exception is heavyweight.
    • HWT WRESTLER TOURNAMENT RULE: If there is more than a 20 pound difference in weight of the competing wrestlers, for safety & liability reasons, they will not be able to wrestle each other. Both teams will receive 6 Team Points.
    • Team has the option to wrestle any eligible wrestler.
    • TEAMS will be seeded by the # of Wrestlers you have that can naturally fill the weight classes.

    We will have a separate 4 man round robin exhibition tournament that will run in conjunction with the dual tournament. Wrestlers will be placed in brackets with similar skill level and weight. No wrestler is allowed to wrestle the Team match and then wrestle an exhibition.
    We will be using a round robin format this year with 5 guaranteed duals. Smaller teams from last year have been eliminated for better competition.

    • Entry Fee: $15.00 and no refunds

    • Team trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams. A team consists of any 10 wrestlers and teams must be turned in at coaches meeting at 8:45am. Cost is $10.00 per team and paid for at coaches meeting.
    • Check in and weight checks will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wrestling will begin at 9:00 a.m.
    • Skill levels and 4 or 5 man round robin brackets will be used to try and guarantee 3 quality matches per wrestler.
    • Concessions will be available throughout the day. Breakfast will be served.
    • Tournament size will be limited to 500 wrestlers.
    • Pre-K through 8th grade wrestlers may participate.
    • WIAA officials on most of the mats.
    • No USA card required.
    • Absolutely no walk-ins will be allowed.
    You must pre-registered including your weight online before the deadline December 9th at 2:00 pm. Weights can be updated anytime up to the 2:00pm deadline. We recommend registering early and updating your weight as the deadline approaches. This will secure your spot and have an accurate weight. You will be given a 2lb weight allowance. If you are over by more than 2 pounds you will forfeit your matches with no refund given
