Badger Wrestling Family and Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches,

Last week our entire staff and RTC athletes went to Las Vegas for the Freestyle World Championships. We ran into scores of other individuals from Wisconsin in attendance including past Badger Coaches and Olympic medalists Andy Rein and Russ Hellickson.

I would like to congratulate USA Wrestling and United World Wrestling for an outstanding event! Specifically I want to thank Badger NCAA Champion and Las Vegas Events Director Pat Christenson for his part in securing this event in Las Vegas and USA Wrestling Executive Director (and Boscobel WI native) Rich Bender and his staff for their work. Most of us have no idea what it takes to host an event that has over 60 countries involved where they issue over 3500 credentials! GREAT JOB!!!

I am sure several of you tried to watch the Championships on Sunday that got pre-empted by the US Tennis Open due to a weather delay. The following is the information on the airing of the broadcast

ESPNU COVERAGE OF WORLD WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Wednesday, September 16 at 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time. (Men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle)

This episode will include coverage of all four U.S. wrestlers to win a gold medal this week at the World Championships in Las Vegas, to include:
• 2012 Olympic champion and three-time World champion Jordan Burroughs at 74 kg in men’s freestyle
• Three-time World champion and five-time World medalist Adeline Gray at 75 kg in women’s freestyle
• 2015 World champion and three-time World medalist Helen Maroulis at 55 kg in women’s freestyle
• The amazing 19-year old World champion Kyle Snyder at 97 kg in men’s freestyle.

Again it was great seeing many of you in Las Vegas. I will sign off differently on this communication.

GO USA!
Coach Davis
