Alumni, Friends and Family,

Cliff Keen Invitational
Over the past weekend we participated in one of the toughest tournaments of the season in the 40 team Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas. We’re still not at full strength as we decided to not wrestle Ryan Taylor or Jens Lantz at 133lbs. We did have a few strong performances with Zeke Jordan earning the title at 165lbs. Zeke is currently ranked 2/3 nationally (FloWrestling/Intermat respectively). Ricky Robertson went in with the 7th seed and finished 5th and Ryan Christensen was unseeded and placed 8th, beating 2 seeded wrestlers along the way. We still have a ways to go but this was a great competition to help us continue to move forward.

On a historical note, the Cliff Keen Invitational has been an outstanding competition since the mid 1980’s. Jim Jordan won this tournament beating 2X Olympic Champion John Smith in the finals. Terry Manning won this event as well with 4 All-Americans (including an NCAA Champion who Terry pinned in the semis) on the award stand below him!

Weekend competitions
This weekend we will have our last competitions prior to final exams. On Saturday we will be competing in a dual at Pittsburgh and will follow-up on Sunday with a match against 1 Penn State. It goes without saying that it will be a great test on Sunday against Penn State but the match with Pitt will be a very good one as well.

We will also have several of our freshman going on their own to compete in the UNI tournament on Saturday. Will update everyone on these competitions next week.

Go Badgers!
