Alumni, Friends and Family,

Pointer Open Results
Unofficially the season started this past weekend with 7 freshman competing in the Pointer Open in Stevens Point. These athletes went on their own as the current plans for each one is to redshirt this season. The group was led by Champions Eli Stickley (141), Eric Schmid (157 and Izaec Quintanilla (165). Finishing second were Cole Martin (141), Mason Reinhart (184) and Ben Stone (HWT) along with a 3rd place finish from Hunter Ritter (184). This was a solid performance by everyone in their first college competition. This is the first time where the entire group of freshman competing placed in the top three with no individual losing more than one match.

Bill Farrell International
This past Saturday Nazar and Connor competed in the Bill Farrell International in New York City. Nazar has dropped a weigh category from 70kg to 65kg and finished one match out of placing. His only losses were to the individuals that placed 1st and 3rd. Nearly every one of the top competitors in the USA were at his weight. Connor also got valuable experience in an extremely deep weight. Former Badgers Timmy McCall and Tyler Graff also competed with Graff winning the 57kg weight. Tyler will definitely be a strong candidate for the 2016 Olympic Team.

Home Dual on Thursday
Come and watch the Badgers compete in the first dual of the season on Thursday versus UW-Whitewater at 7pm in the UW Fieldhouse. The line-up for the match is below. Normally we encourage everyone to join us at Lucky’s (across the street on Regent St) afterwards. After this dual NO Badger Coaches will be attending the social as this match takes place during the NCAA “Dead Period”. The Dead Period is 48 hours before and after the signing date of Wednesday November 11. During this period college coaches are not allowed any contact with prospective student athletes. We don’t want to take the chance of running into any high school wrestlers during this time period. We will be attending socials following the other home matches this season.

Badger Line-up vs Whitewater

133 Jens Lantz
141 Luke Rowh
149 Andrew Crone

Michigan State Open
On this coming Sunday we will be competing in the Michigan State Open for the first time. There are several solid Teams that have participated in the past including Big Ten schools Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State and Northwestern. Most of the Team will compete. We will be holding a couple of varsity guys out of the competition as part of their individual overall season plan. Will report back on the tournament next week.

Go Badgers!
Coach Davis

Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches,

It was good to see many of you at the Coaches Convention and Hall of Fame banquet last weekend. Always a well-run event. We know everyone is exited to get started with wrestling practice. If there are any technique or skills/drills you would like some help with let us know. We will be shooting technique videos next week so it will be a good time to reach out to us on this.

Have a great one,

Badger Coaching Staff
