Week 8 (Final Week for 2005-2006)

This will be the last wrestler of the week for 2005-2006. I decided not to do a wrestler of the week following the conference tournament because of two reasons. One, there are multiple wrestlers that deserve this award. Two, I only received one nomination and that was Waupaca’s Justin Teppo. Congrats to Justin Teppo on becoming a four-time conference champion. Just as last year, there will not be a wrestler of the week for the tournament series either.

Week 7 (1/23/06 – 1/29/06) Wrestler of the Week

Jimmy Peters, Shiocton, 135, 11
Jimmy defeated Les Cornette from Green Bay West/Southwest 5-3 at the Door County Classic. Cornette is ranked 3rd in division one at 135 pounds. He also pinned Tyler Woodke from Gillett who is ranked 7th at 130 in division two. Peters is now 28-3 and ranked 3rd at 135 pounds in division three. He also received his 100th win.

Other Nominee:

Dennis Reckelberg, Luxemburg-Casco, 160, 12
Dennis avenged an early season loss against Kaukauna’s Joe Budi with a 7-2 decision over him in the finals of the Pulaski tournament. Budi was ranked fifth in division one. Dennis is now 34-6 and ranked second in division two.

NOTE: There are many others that I understand deserve a spot at least as nominees. For future weeks, please send in your nominees by Monday night. Be sure to include the wrestlers full name, high school, coaches name and number and the wrestlers recent accomplishments, including significant recent wins/accomplishments.
