"Undefeated"

I said "leg riding" was the hardest thing to do in wrestling.  Well, I lied.

Other than being a state champion, "being undefeated" is the hardest thing to do.

Last year, coming into the State Tournament 24 wrestlers could call themselves undefeated. At the end, 15 were able to call themselves undefeated.

Now I am going to tell you how many wrestlers who lost one match won a state title: 5.

What does that tell you?

Actually, most of the state champs last year had lost somewhere between 2-5 matches.

It is actually, probably, easier "not" to be undefeated, because it is one less thing to worry about.

If you do not lose a match from the beginning of the season to the end of state, you probably had a lot more do think about than people who had losses.  Maybe those with losses could care less if they lose a match.  If they have less then ten losses, or not, all they care about is making it to state and trying to win it.

While you have a record to maintain, it can be just more pressure.

Sincerely, Big Mac
