You have probably seen this a hundred times. Some really good kid wrestles a first year kid.  He takes him down and lets him go and just embarrasses his opponent. 

What does it prove? 

Everyone already knows that you’re a hundred times better?

So if I were the coach I would say "just go out there and pin him right away".

Yeah, your opponent won’t learn anything, but he's not going to learn anything getting taken down and let go repeatedly. 

Plus you are just embarrassing your opponent.

There is no sportsmanship at all involved in this.
