Regional/Sectional Alignment Is Horrible
Recently I participated in a team sectional. It was held in Darlington,
which is about two and a half hours away, to wrestle a team that is 30
miles down the road. Then Saturday Sectionals at Mineral Point is about
the same exact distance away. The Arcadia Sectional is about an hour
closer. So I would like to know who in the world is coming up with this
stuff and what map are they looking at.
There were at least fifty people who couldn’t attend our team sectional
because it was too far away. Not only is it two and one half hours away
it’s on a school night. So by the time it was over and everyone loaded
up on the bus it was about ten o’clock. So we didn’t get home till after
midnight. Also, Marshall came a long way to our Sectional when North
Fond du Lac is about thirty minutes from them.
Also, it isn’t fair for one team like Mineral Point (we wouldn’t of beat
them anyway) to only have to go ten minutes down the road. Also, I don’t
see why they should get to hold sectionals every year.
For all divisions but especially division 3 the four Sectionals are held
in 4 different corners of the state. So it really isn’t close for anyone
except the host and their conference. That plain and simple just isn’t
fair or smart.
Personally, I would like the people in charge to just stop and think
about where they’re sending people and maybe rethink that. That’s just
my two cents
