When Lodi wrestling coaches, Nick Ziegler and Cody Endres, traveled to Iowa City on November 14, 2015 the seeds for the Lodi High School Grapple on the Gridiron were sowed. The two Lodi High School wrestling alumni watched the University of Iowa’s wrestling team take on the University of Oklahoma State in front of 42,000 college wrestling fans at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium.

“Since that day, Nick and I have begun sharing thoughts, ideas and planning for a Grapple on the Gridiron to occur here in Lodi on our own football field that so many of our wrestlers play on.” Endres said.

The Saturday evening event followed a day of learning participation at a Lodi wrestling camp open to all ages. Jack Reinwand and Laurent Soucie were the main camp clinicians for the fifty wrestlers attending the event.

“For a lot of these athletes, this will be a memory they will be talking about for a long time,” Endres said.
