Krattiger, Thomas win titles for Waterford at Badger Invitational | Journal Times sports staff
Austin Thomas and Jared Krattiger each won championships and four other Waterford High School wrestlers finished in the top three Saturday to lead the Wolverines to third place at the Badger Invitational at Lake Geneva.
Waterford finished with 285.5 points in the scramble-format meet. Milton won with 361 and Badger was second with 339.

Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee’s Burzynski takes title at Chi-Hi wrestling invite

Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee’s Sam Burzynski put on a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon on his way to a championship at 145 pounds at the Chi-Hi wrestling invite.
Burzynski (19-3) was 3-0 on the day, scoring two pinfall victories with a major decision win sandwiched between.

Mauston rolls to 55-16 win over Wisconsin Dells

The Wisconsin Dells prep wrestling team couldn’t overcome the 30 points it gave up via forfeits, as it dropped a South Central Conference dual meet to host Mauston on Thursday night, 55-16.
Wisconsin Dells picked up three victories on Thursday, including a win at 106 pounds, where Gabe Kingsley def. Mauston freshman Jarric Winders 10-2.

Stoughton, Mineral Point predicted to make it to WIAA team state championship matches

FREEDOM – Logan Zschernitz won the 285-pound title to help the Spencer/Columbus Catholic wrestling team to a fifth-place finish at the 16-team Freedom Irish Invitational on Saturday at Freedom High School.

Stratford wrestling perfect 4-0 to win New Lisbon Duals

NEW LISBON – The Stratford wrestling team continued its hot run with a perfect 4-0 record to win the New Lisbon Duals on Saturday. Stratford defeated Adams-Friendship 63-15, Reedsburg 63-12, Holmen 46-9, and New Lisbon 47-21 to win the tournament title.

WESTON – Stratford won eight of the 14 weight classes to roll to the team title at the Fred Lehrke Evergreen Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at D.C. Everest High School.

Oconomowoc wrestling wins six dual meets this past week
No team could touch the Oconomowoc wrestling squad this past week. OHS went undefeated with six dual-meet wins. The Raccoons began the week on Thursday with a win over West Bend West in Wisconsin Little Ten action, 46-23. Two days later at the 13th Annual Verona Area Duals, Oconomowoc beat Lake Geneva Badger (32-29), Watertown (72-9), Verona Area (67-7), Cedarburg (42-24) and Darlington/Black Hawk (48-18). Down 29-26 to Badger entering the final match at 113 pounds, Luke Olson scored a pin 5 minutes, 13 seconds into the match to give Oconomowoc the three- point victory.

Sussex Hamilton wrestling gets two individual crowns
Ryan Merkel continued his undefeated season at the Baraboo Thunderbird Classic last weekend. The Hamilton senior claimed first place at 138 pounds with two technical falls and a pin. In the finals, Merkel edged Tomah’s Hunter Pierce in an ultimate tiebreaker win, 3-2. Pierce was ranked on the honorable-mention list in Division 1.

Westby Invitational
WESTBY – La Crosse Central placed second to Riverdale, and juniors Jaden Van Maanen and Connor Williams picked up significant victories in winning indivivdual titles.
Van Maanaen (27-1), ranked second in Division 1, scored a major decision over Nekoosa/Port Edwards’ Jordan Sarver, ranked second in Division 2 to win at 132 pounds.
Williams (27-1) ranked third in D1, bumped up to 182 for one dual and 195 for four others and knocked off a pair of ranked wrestlers to finish 5-0. He defeated Brookwood 195-pounder Cory Ottum 12-6 in one of those matches.
