By Evan Frank Dec. 7, 2015

With the spotlight shining bright in its first tournament of the season, the Mukwonago wrestling team didn’t disappoint.

At the Kettle Moraine Laser Duals on Dec. 5, MHS won all five of its contests to win the tournament. Two days earlier, Mukwonago defeated Waukesha South in a dual meet, 67-6.

In six duals this season, Mukwonago has secured 36 pins and allowed seven. That’s an average of six Mukwonago pins per dual while allowing just more than one.

“It’s a testament that we’re taking advantage of the top position and finishing guys when we get them on their back,” MHS coach Jon Wierzbicki said. “Opposite, we’re not giving up as many falls. With half our lineup being seniors, it’s just a pretty hard nosed, tough group. It’s a great mix.” (Read more)

Denmark’s Bergelin gets back to work on mat

Bergelin became the first wrestler in program history to win a WIAA state championship since 1993 last season by claiming the Division 2 title at 106 pounds. (Read more)
