Vikings slam top competition
Stoughton wins 43rd annual Badger State Invitational

To put into perspective how long the Badger State Invitational has been around for the Stoughton High School wrestling program, one has to look no farther than junior Kaleb Louis.
Louis, who won the 120-pound title at Saturday’s 43rd installment of the annual tournament, remembered a story from about 30 years ago – when his father wrestled in his first varsity tournament.

With a few kids out of town, a few more injured and a bunch with little experience, the Fond
du Lac wrestling team faced a tall order Tuesday night against Neenah.

Monona Grove/McFarland manage a handful of wins against Milton, Stoughton

This was always going to be a tough stretch for the Monona Grove/McFarland wrestling team. With Milton and Stoughton on the schedule last week, the third-year MGM program was forced to
contend with a pair of state-ranked programs. Against Milton on Dec. 15, MGM lost 75-3 and then again to Stoughton on Dec. 18, 70-7. (Read more)
Wrightstown Tigers earn 4th place finish at Marty Loy
Some of the parents of the Wrightstown Tigers wrestlers aren’t too happy with the tournament schedule that co-head coaches Matt and Bill Verbeten set for their team every year. Some parents feel that some of the tournaments are a bit tough and would much rather see them not wrestle such demanding tourneys.
The Tigers themselves don’t seem to mind so much. (Read more)

Fourth-ranked Sauk Prairie traveled to Fond du Lac for the Marty Loy Classic on Dec. 19. Five Eagles took home top-three finishes on the their way to a second-place finish in the meet

The Coleman Cougars wrestling team scored 429 points to out distance runner up Wittenberg-
Birnamwood by 51 on Saturday to claim first place at the Shawano Holiday Classic. (Read more)
Gillett/Suring Wrestlers Runner-up at Kewaunee
The Gillett/Suring wrestling team score 179 points on Saturday to finish in second place at
the Kewaunee Invitational. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah/Howards Grove finished first with 190.5
points. Seymour was third with 155. (Read more)
Crivitz and Lena Compete at Willard Schmidt
Competing with only partial rosters the Crivitz Wolverines and Lena Wildcats wrestling teams
competed at the Willard Schmidt scramble hosted by Green Bay Preble on Saturday. Lena’s five
man team scored 106 points to finish 12th and Crivitz four man squad scored 80 for 13th.
Lomira won the tournament with 461 points. Preble was second with 316. Dylan Garrigan led
Lena with a third place finish at 182. After dropping his round one match to Zak Petasek
from Lux-Casco by 3-2 decision Garrigan won four straight. Garrigan won a 5-2 decision over
Daniel Balch of Preble in the 3rd place match. (Read more)
