The Raccoons needed a Wisconsin Little Ten Conference victory to stay in the hunt for a fourth-consecutive league crown, and they got it on Dec. 18 at Wisconsin Lutheran, 43-33.

Pewaukee crowns three champions at major tournament

The Pewaukee wrestling team already has a dangerous duo in Jacob Raschka and Blaze Beltran, but at the Badger State Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 19, a new threat emerged.
Brandon Berg, a 182-pound junior who is 13-1 this season, won his bracket and became yet another name for Pewaukee opponents to watch out for.

Pewaukee HS wins dual meet
On Dec. 16, the Pirates earned a 48-23 dual-meet victory over the Whitnall-Greendale co-op. Last season, the newly formed co-op defeated Pewaukee in a dual meet, but PHS got its revenge in a team sectional match to qualify for team state. (Read more)

Waterford High School wrestler Justin Ratkovec certainly deserved the honor he received Saturday at the E.H. Stech Invitational.
The Wolverines senior had two pins and beat a two-time state finalist in the championship match at 126 pounds to earn Most Valuable Wrestler honors at the 18-team meet at West Allis Central.

TOMAHAWK – Austin Post and Tim Bauer won titles for the Spencer/Columbus Catholic wrestling squad as it went on to take the team championship at the Tomahawk Invitational on Saturday at Tomahawk High School.
Post (8-2) won the title at 132 pounds, beating Ben Kalata of Crandon 9-5 in the finals.
Jankowski, Bolder win titles for Auburndale wrestling at home tournament

AUBURNDALE – Kurt Jankowski and Kaleb Bolder won individual titles as the Auburndale wrestling team finished fourth at its home Auburndale Invitational on Saturday.
Jankowski went 3-0 at 195 pounds with a pin and a major decision, Bolder was 3-0 at 285 pounds with two pins for the Apaches, who finished with 109 points. (Read more)
Schwanebeck-Ostermann wins title as Marshfield wrestling takes fourth at Richland Center Invite

RICHLAND CENTER – Freshman Bently Schwanebeck-Ostermann won the 145-pound championship for Marshfield as the Tigers wrestling team finished fourth at the Richland Center Invitational on Saturday.
Schwanebeck-Ostermann improved to 11-5 in his first varsity season after beating Caleb Johnson of Riverdale 11-5 in the 145-pound title match.
Cadott wrestling cruises past Eau Claire Regis

CADOTT — The Cadott wrestling team left its gym on Thursday night with a 66-9 victory over Eau Claire Regis in hand. Impressive, yes, but less so when you break down those numbers. The Hornets led the match 54-0 before it even began. (Read more)

WAUSAU – Wisconsin Rapids got four straight pins to open the dual and held on for a 42-35 win over Wausau West in a matchup of two undefeated Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling teams Thursday.
West trailed 33-0 after six weights and rallied back to get to within four points before Rapids’ Patrick Spray won a 2-0 decision at 138 pounds in the final weight of the dual.

The Hatchet wrestling team opened up its GNC season with a 50-22 triumph over Ashland, then backed it up with a solid fourth-place finish in Saturday’s 16-team Wabeno Invite.
Union Grove Broncos had a banner day in winning the Bill McCreary Duals at Beloit Turner.
Union Grove went 5-0 record in the eight-team tournament, beating Beloit Turner 39-35 in the championship meet.

Salem/Bangor wrestling team Saturday in the Badger State meet at the Alliant Energy Center.
Bahr (16-0), ranked first in Division 2 by Wisconsin Wrestling Online, pinned his first three opponents before posting a 9-4 decision over
Sparta sophomore Hayden Krein (13-2), ranked first in Division 1, in the finals.

West Allis — Big matches are what people want to see at early season tournaments.
They want to see clashes that matter between wrestlers who will be key players when the individual state tournament rolls around in late February.
West Allis Central senior Tyus White and Waterford senior Justin Ratkovec put on that display in the 126-pound final of the E.H. Stech Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Central when several others failed to materialize.
