Hannah, Empey medal for USA at Schoolboy/girl Pan-Ams in Colombia

Two Wisconsin wrestlers medaled in their respective weight classes at the Pan-Am Schoolboy championships in Medellin, Colombia on Friday. Tyler Hannah (Genoa, WI/Viroqua), wrestling at 187lb (85kg) earned a gold medal. Brooks Empey (Stoughton) earned a bronze at 160s.5lbs (73kg).

Hannah is a 2016 USA Wrestling Triple Crown winner and also won the 2016 Southern Plains Regional in freestyle and Greco.

Brooks Empey was a freestyle national champ and finished second in Greco in 2016.

Empey and Hannah will compete again Sunday in the Greco-Roman competition.

Wisconsin’s Kylie Welker (Franksville/Burlington) who has won a US Folkstyle championship this year will compete today (Saturday, October 8) in the 96.8lb. (44 kg) weight class for the women team.

Men’s freestyle took place Friday, October 7. Women’s freestyle will be conducted October 8, followed by Greco-Roman on October 9

160.5 lb. – Brooks Empey, Stoughton, Wisconsin – BRONZE
187 lb. – Tyler Hannah, Genoa, Wisconsin – GOLD
