Greetings Pointer wrestling fans & family,

School has started and the boys are back at it. We have a tremendous group of guys and we are very excited about the upcoming season. With 22 freshmen and sophomores, the future of our team looks extremely bright.

A couple of quick notes from the summer months; we had 4 alumni who were married recently. Jon Burdick, Joe Bavlnka, Ryan Hanson, and our own Yan White were all married this summer. Congrats men!

With the beginning of the year there are many things on the slate. Just recently we held our golf outing at the Stevens Point Country Club. The turnout was good as was the weather and the course. Thanks to all of those who participated in that. The winning team consisted of Mark “Fish” Poirier, Kyle Olund, Jamie Hildebrandt, and Chris “Kitty” Kittmann. The wrestling team will be organizing and running their annual triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 22nd. Homecoming is Saturday, October 13th. We hope many of the alumni will be able to come back and play our friendly football game that morning. That evening at the Hall of Fame Banquet, Jere Hamel will take his place in the UWSP Athletic Hall of Fame. And finally, the Pointer season will kick off with the Pointer Open on November 10th in the Multi-Activity center.

We hope many of you will continue to support us by staying in touch, coming to meets, and cheering for the Pointers. Watch your mail as we will be sending out the annual Takedown Club brochures. Please let us know if you do not receive your booster club mailing.

Howdy everyone:
We are very proud to acknowledge the Jere Hamel will be inducted into
the UWSP Athletic Hall of Fame this homecoming weekend. We hope that
many of you will be able to attend and join us in celebrating yet
another Pointer Wrestler in the Hall of Fame. Also, for the alumni we
will be participating in our annual alumni football game at 10:00 AM on
the practice field.

Please find attached the invitation to the Hall of Fame banquet with
information on cost, time and location.

Again, congratulations to Jere and we are looking forward to seeing many

2007 Pointer Wrestling
Golf Outing

When: Friday, September 7th, 2007
*Shotgun Start at 2:00 PM

Where: Stevens Point Country Club
1628 Country Club Drive
Stevens Point, WI

Cost: $90.00 per person. This fee includes golf, cart, and dinner. Fee also covers 3 complimentary beverages. Additional meal tickets are available for $15 each, which will include the post golf social.

Format: A four-person scramble- best ball. Teams may consist of any gender mix.
Women will be allowed to use the forward tee box.

Prizes: Winning team members will each be awarded with a tournament champion golf hat. Rules will be supplied to each team at registration. Prizes will also be awarded for closest to the hole, longest putt, and longest drive on holes to be determined. We will also raffle various merchandise including some Pointer Wrestling apparel.
