Cheloni, Wells Sign NLI’s with Parkside Ranger Program

SOMERS, Wis. — Anthony Cheloni and Wyatt Wells have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Wisconsin-Parkside and wrestle for the Rangers announced head coach Gregg Lewis on Thursday.

Cheloni is a senior at Marmion Academy in Aurora, Ill,, while Wells attends Beaver Dam High School in Beaver Dam, Wis.

Cheloni, who wrestled his senior season at 138 pounds, posted a career record of 166-28 and placed at the Illinois state tournament on three occasions. He was second as a sophomore, finished fourth during his junior year and capped his career with a third-place finish this year.

Wells was a standout wrestler at Beaver Dam High School and finished his senior season with a 50-1 record.

Wells was the top-ranked wrestler in the 220 pound class by Wisconsin Wrestling Online and recorded a third-place finish at the Wisconsin state championships. His 50-1 record as a senior gave him a career record of 148-22 at Beaver Dam.

Wisconsin-Parkside had another outstanding season in 2016-17 as the Rangers finished the year with a 13-2 record in dual match competition. Becker, Ronzel Darling and Airk Furseth all advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships and Becker won his second consecutive national championship at 174 pounds.
