We have some great instructors from almost all of our colleges and universities, which should be a terrific
learning experience for our Wisconsin athletes. Each R.T.S. will run for six weeks, beginning the week of
March 16th and running through the week of Freestyle State (April 26). After this time period, we will
look at having some extended Regional Training Sites at the locations with high attendance and interest in further
training. Training will be offered two nights per week for 90 minutes. The instruction will be the same across the
board to ensure that all of our athletes are learning the same system of technique and are prepared to succeed at
the State, Regional, and most importantly, National level. The goal is to have everyone that attends events such as
age group National Duals, Kids Nationals, and Fargo, be on the same page. If the athletes understand and have
drilled on the same system of techniques, strategies, and tactics, when we come into training camps, time can be
spent on reviewing, refining, and peaking our kids to be at their best when it matters most! Very little if any new
instruction should need to be shown at the various training camps this summer. Although valuable for the long
term development, it is unrealistic to think new skills learned in the 4 days of training camp, will be executed by
many of our athletes at the National Tournament. I encourage all coaches and athletes to attend a R.T.S. in their
area to learn the international styles of wrestling. The benefits from learning these styles are endless and a topic
for another newsletter.
