Coaches wishing to participate with 2008 WWF National Teams, please fill out the Coaches Pool Application and Code of Conduct form.  If there are any questions, please give Mike a call or email.

The WWF announces the appointment of Mike DeRoehn as their new state coach on October 15th, 2006.

Mike is originally from New Hampshire. He wrestled at Plymouth Regional High School, and competed in college at Plymouth State University. Mike moved to Wisconsin on a full time basis in the fall of 2002, after having spent some time living in Hurley as well as coaching in Pennsylvania. He is currently the Head Wrestling Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and also have a great deal of experience coaching youth wrestling through my kids’ club, World Class Wrestling.

Mike has a lot of good ideas in how to improve the level of wrestling in the state of Wisconsin and will be using the website to get the info out to the wrestlers and their parents. Above you will notice a link to his first newsletter, Back Points 1.

Below is a listing of the State Coach Responsibilities.

State Coach Responsibilities

1)      Ultimate Responsibility is to improve the level of Freestyle, Greco and Folkstyle wrestling in the state of Wisconsin.

2)      Promote WWF and USA Wrestling Programs.

3)      Develop a Coaching Pool and work with them to set up the technique that is used on the national teams and taught at the training sites.

4)      Coordinate Training Sites and Developmental Camps and their locations within the budget given and approved by the state chairperson. Work with training site clinicians in the technique that is taught.

5)      Responsible for the selection of all the WWF State Teams

A)    MN/WI Duals

B)     Schoolboy, Cadet, and Junior Dual Teams

C)    Cadet, Junior and Womens Nationals

The state coach will consider input from age level directors and from the coaching pool but the state coach will make the final decision.

6)      Select coaches from the coaching pool to be the head coach for each of the national dual teams: Junior Greco-Roman and Freestyle, Cadet Greco-Roman and Freestyle, Schoolboy and MN/WI Duals and also their assistants with input from each team’s head coach.  

7)      Select coaches from the Coaches Pool for the Cadet, Junior and Women teams for the National Championships in Fargo and be at the camps as much as humanly possible. Verify that all arrangements have been taken care of by the age level directors for the National Championship team camps.

8)      Responsible for all Coaches passes at national tournaments and submit the final coaches roster for all national events to the State Chairperson.

9)      Make-up a plan of action for each year at the beginning of the year in September and approved by the state chairperson. State Coach must stay within budget given.

10)  Make up monthly report of what was done that month and given to the State Chairperson.

11)  Help improve our state’s club coaches, put on clinics for them and keep them informed of techniques that have been set by him and taught to our state wrestlers.

12)  Work with the coaches in the coaches pool in a making training video for training sites and club coaches

13)  Be responsible for all Nat'l Coaches Education in the state, ie: copper, bronze , and silver.

14)  Attend all state tournaments and any national events that he is needed at

15)  Communicate with WIAA and University coaches to promote Freestyle and Greco wrestling. 

16)  Attend WWCA State Coaches Clinic in November

17)  Make an appearance at all Training Sites

18)  Verify that all arrangements and reservations for transportation and lodging for national team events were taken care of by the age level directors.

19)  Attend National Team Training Camp at USAW in Colorado Springs Yearly

20)  Work with website to put info out to all coaches and competitors

21)  Be present at the State Budget and Annual meetings

 

Age Level Directors will be Responsible for the Following:

                 Junior Director

1)      Ordering Team Uniforms

2)      Setting up National Championships Team Camp

3)      Registration for National Championships Team Camp

4)      Make team arrangements for Junior Duals and Junior National Championships

5)      Promotion of Junior Level Programs at State Tournaments

Cadet Director

1)      Ordering Team Uniforms

2)      Setting up National Championships Team Camp

3)      Registration for National Championships Team Camp

4)      Take care of Registration for Cadet Northern Plains

5)      Make team arrangements for Junior Duals and Junior National Championships

6)      Promotion of Cadet Level Programs at State Tournaments

Kids Director

1)      Ordering Team Uniforms

2)      Take care of Registration for Kids Northern Plains

3)      Take care of team arrangements for Schoolboy and MN/WI Duals

4)      Promotion of Kids Level Programs at State Tournaments
