Jake Sueflohn lies on the table in the operating room. The nurse asks him to count down from 10.

Ten…Nine…Eight…

He falls asleep.

The next morning, he wakes up to a pain he has never felt before. It’s excruciating.

Six days earlier on Sept. 26, the senior wrestler was wrestling against junior teammate Austin Wilson with 10 minutes left at a routine preseason practice.
