Parker Hines returns home with Air Force wrestling
Parker Hines had a rare opportunity on Saturday to wrestle in front of a crowd filled with his friends and family.The Ellsworth High School graduate, now a member of the Air Force Academy’s Division 1 wrestling program, usually competes in matches halfway across the country from his hometown. However, an agreement between Air Force head coach Sam Barber and UW-La Crosse head coach Dave Malecek pitted the two teams against each other in a dual match on Saturday at St. Croix Central High School. With Air Force already making the trip from Colorado Springs, Colo. to the Midwest to wrestle the University of Minnesota later in the evening, the Falcons were available to wrestle Division III La Crosse on Saturday morning.The Ellsworth wrestling fans in attendance were not disappointed, as Hines captured a 15-5 win over La Crosse’s Zach Tooley at the 197-pound weight class.
