Tournament Format
Grades K-2
1. Wrestlers will be organized in a 4-person bracket.
If the bracket has 4 wrestlers, each will be guaranteed 3 matches.
2. Each match will consist of 3 one-minute periods.
3. Each period will begin with wrestlers on their feet.
4. Wrestlers will be bull-penned, then called out to their mats.
NO TEARS FORMAT – No match score will be kept for these bouts,
both hands raised, and all wrestlers will receive a medal at the completion of the bracket.
Grades 3-6
1. Wrestlers will be bracketed in a 4 person round robin format.
2. Each match will consist of three one minute periods.
3. Each period will begin with the wrestlers on their feet.
4. Ties will be decided on the basis of who scored the first points.
No Headlock rule for Grades K-6
Headlocks used as a takedown or as a pinning combination
will be treated as a potentially dangerous hold.
If a wrestler uses the position on their feet, the match will be stopped and re-started.
If a wrestler is in a pinning combination and the maneuver ends up in a headlock position, near fall points will be awarded (so long as near fall criteria has been met) and the wrestlers will be re-started from the down position.
***Special note for parents, coaches, and spectators:
This tournament is intended to be a fun event where kids can gain valuable experience.
Please set a good example for our young wrestlers by showing good sportsmanship.

10 wrestlers per team/ $15.00 fee per team.
Each wrestler must provide own equipment. Southern Door school or Wrestling club will not be responsible for lost or stolen items, or for any injuries. A medic will be on hand throughout the tournament. No Food or Drinks allowed in gym! A cafeteria and concessions will be open.
